The department is issuing fliers to increase public awareness of the homicide of Clifton Cargill, 51. The shooting took place about 7 a.m. on Jan. 5 in the rear parking lot and alley area of Bell’s Bicycles. Cargill was there to lead the Sunday Dutty Rida group ride.

North Miami Beach police investigated an area at Northeast 163rd Street and 19th Avenue. Bell’s is located at 1951 NE 163rd St. No motive has been reported.

WPLG-ABC 10 News obtained surveillance video last week that shows Cargill driving into the back alley area, where the group met. Minutes later, police arrived at the scene and Cargill was pronounced dead.

It was the second fatal shooting that weekend. A night before, a man was shot five times in the head blocks away, North Miami Beach Police Maj. Richard Rand told Local10.com.

A Clifton Cargill/Dutty Rida Memorial Ride Against Gun Violence is scheduled Jan. 26, starting at Bell’s Bicycles at 7:30 a.m. EST.

Anyone with information on the homicide is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
