BMC recalls Teammachine SLR01 Disc bicycles and framesets due to fall hazard

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — BMC is recalling all 2018 and 2019 Teammachine SLR01 Disc bicycles and framesets because the fork steerer tube can crack or break during use, posing a fall hazard.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission received four reports from BMC of the fork steerer tube breaking while riding, with two consumers being injured during a fall.

Teammachine owners should stop riding the bikes and contact their local BMC authorized dealer for a free inspection and free replacement fork.

About 840 bikes were sold in the U.S. and 94 in Canada at BMC dealers and bike stores nationwide from July 2017 through October 2019 for between $4,500-$12,500. The frames have BMC printed on the downtube and came in red, green, gray, graphite, blue and aqua green colors.

Recalled models have serial numbers starting with 8R17 and 8R18, followed by one letter and a four-digit code printed on the underside of the bottom bracket. Only models and framesets with a FK6 fork require a replacement, which will be confirmed by a BMC authorized dealers during the inspection.
